“We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love and that love comes with community.” ~Dorothy Day

Each time we encounter another being a thread of connection is created. The deeper the encounter, the stronger the thread. These threads create a sacred web of relationships and these thread holds our universe in balance. We are living in a time when most of us weave strong threads with only a few. We are living in a time when dominant culture teaches us only to take
care of ourselves and the people closest to us even if it is at the expense of many others. Mose of us have forgotten how to weave those threads with the non-human world. Most of us don’t remember how to weave those threads strongly and sustainably with each other. Or as Chan K’in Viejo, spiritual leader of the Lacandone people says, “What the people of the city do not realize is that the roots of all living things are tied together.”

The work of reweaving this web is of the utmost importance during these times of great suffering and great change.  Currently, I am doing much of my community building work through The Temple of the Waters.  I serve as board president of the Temple and we offer regular workshops, circles, events and connect with larger actions and efforts for justice.  Check out the Temple’s website to learn more about ways to connect with earth loving community.  Through this work, I hold a prayer in my heart that these offerings may support us all in strengthening that web of relationship and move closer towards right relationship with the earth and each other.
